The story of Stringfellow Construction Group didn't begin with a construction company. It began with two people, a lot of hard work, and the belief that what we were doing to survive could become something more.

Before there was a company
Jesye's experience in property maintenance started at nine years old, working alongside his grandfather. By the time he and Jamila met in 2006, he had already spent years working with his hands and figuring out how to solve problems.
But he wasn't building a business. He was hustling. Odd jobs. Repairs. Maintenance. Whatever honest work was available, and whatever needed doing to make a living.
Jamila saw something more.
She saw that the same drive being used to chase the next job could be focused into building something legitimate. She pushed Jesye to think bigger, become more intentional, and turn years of experience and hard work into a business.
That push changed the direction of both of our lives.
The record
Two companies. One of them failed.
We don't hide that part of our story. It is the part that taught us the most, and it is the reason we can be useful to somebody standing where we stood.
More importantly, we learned that building something requires more than knowing your craft. It requires structure.
How the company got built
We built the company the way we built our life together.
“How can we make this work?”
One pushes toward the solution.
“How far could we take it?”
The other pushes beyond the ceiling.
Stringfellow exists somewhere between those two questions.
Experience beyond the jobsite
The question changed.
As Stringfellow developed, so did our understanding of what makes a business work. Six years alongside the owner of an established electrical equipment company expanded the problems Jesye was solving beyond construction itself.
The question was no longer simply how do we do the work?
It became: how should the work work?
And eventually we recognized that this combination of experience had value beyond our own companies.
The next chapter
Nearly 30 years in. Evolving again.
We're transitioning from primarily performing construction work to using what we've learned to help other people make better decisions. Not because we've figured everything out — because we've lived through enough to know how much there is to figure out.

There are a lot of talented people working in the trades who remind us of where we started. They're hardworking. They're capable. They know how to solve problems.
And some of them are still hustling from one job to the next because nobody has helped them figure out how to turn what they're already good at into something bigger.
Stringfellow's next chapter is about putting our experience on their side of the table. For the homeowner trying to make the right decision. For the contractor trying to save a troubled project. For the tradesperson ready to become a business owner. And for the business owner ready to build something that works better than it does today.
You don't have to know everything to build something great. Sometimes you just need experience beside you — and someone who sees how far you could take it.

Where we work
Indianapolis and about an hour out.
Marion County and the surrounding counties, initially. Consultations happen by phone or Zoom as often as they happen on site, so distance matters less for Tier 01 than it does for anything that requires walking the property. If you're outside the area and the project warrants it, call and ask.
